Maastricht is one of the 4 Dutch cities in the list of most technically innovative city regions in the world. This list includes cities that are the most intelligent and future-proof and can call themselves Smart Cities.

The Cities of the World Index was commissioned by EasyPark, a company that specialises in technical parking solutions. It also looks at the available space in cities and how consumers can find these spaces as quickly as possible. After all, driving fewer laps also means fewer emissions.

The ranking looks at the categories digital life, business technical infrastructure, mobility and sustainability.

Maastricht is ranked 23rd in their list of small cities (between 50,000 and 600,000 inhabitants). This is mainly due to Maastricht University, which is known worldwide for its innovative and international education. Maastricht also scores high on online banking.
