Research finds MAA cargo sector good for 3,300 jobs

Research by the Erasmus University in Rotterdam into employment at Maastricht Aachen Airport shows that the airport's cargo sector accounts for around 3,300 jobs. The research results were presented at an aviation conference last week.

According to the director of the airport in Beek, just outside of Maastricht, Jos Roeven, the fact that the figures deviate from the figures that are released by Provincie Limburg would have to do with the fact that earlier data is based on old reports. The freight sector generates approximately 300 million euros for the Limburg economy. The number of freight movements grew last year, when 110,000 tonnes of goods were transported.
